Joint Injections (Knee)

There are various different types of injection therapy available to alleviate pain and improve functions of the hip joint. This includes steroids, hyaluronic acid (viscosupplementation) and Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections. The knee injections including steroids and hyaluronic acid can be carried out on the day of your consultation but PRP injection will need to be organized on another day.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injection of a concentration of platelets prepared by centrifuging patient’s own blood to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. Platelets have growth factors which are important in healing of injured tissues and inhibit the inflammatory process. In this way, PRP injections use each individual patient’s own healing system to improve musculoskeletal problems.
